‘Sparrow’ is the latest release on OVERCOAT RECORDINGS. SPARROW is the newproject of Vancouver based JASON ZUMPANO, who, along with future NEW PORNOGRAPHER, CARL NEWMAN, led the power pop band ZUMPANO throughout the nineties. This debut self titled release is full of well crafted melodies and irresistible hooks. The band takes their cues from such musical visionaries as SPECTOR and BACHARACH and artists like LEFT BANK and theBEACH BOYS. Will please fans of Canadian power pop bands like SLOAN and THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS as well as softer pop outfits like THE SHINS and PERNICE BROTHERS. The approach and craftmanship of the songwriting exceeds the boundaries of “pop” music. Full of well crafted melodies and irresistible hooks, this is all class.
